Checked into Alila Villas Uluwatu: Bali’s Ultimate Luxury

IMG_9626   Alila Villas Uluwatu Bali  Last night I arrived back home from Bali, and I'm already planning my return to Alila Villas Uluwatu. Bali wasn't my original choice of holiday destinations, as I was supposed to be off to the Caribbean, but I am now so glad as the highlight of the trip was my stay was this amazing resort.  I had spent a few nights at other luxury resorts in Bali, but I must say this resort blew me away - I have one word to describe it "WOW"!   At Alila Villas Uluwatu I found my pure intimate paradise!  The privacy, flawless service, amazing beaches and spectacular horizon pool are world class and must be seen to be believed. If you are looking for your ultimate luxury getaway, this resort will tick all the boxes. Read more for all the details on my stay. This place is luxury escapism at its best! IMG_8900 IMG_8899 (1) Location:  Alila Villas Uluwatu is a super cool, chic design, staking a stylish position on Bali's rugged Bukit Peninsula. The resort is located only 30 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport and 15 minutes from Jimbaran Bay near the renowned Uluwatu Temple. Designed by award winning Singapore architectural firm WOHA, the resort is nothing less than an architectural masterpiece. Offering a minimalistic eco glam design and unique location atop limestone cliffs 100 metres above the Indian ocean, with the most spectacular jaw dropping 50 meter infinity pool, every afternoon Alila Villas shows off Uluwatu's most beautiful sunsets. IMG_9332 (1) Check in experience: When we first arrived we were warmly greeted by the beautiful Executive Assistant Manager, Janine. As she ushered us to the arrival lounges my jaw literally hit the ground when I saw the view from the lobby. I had to quickly take a pic an on my iPhone and pinch myself , take a deep breath and let it all sink in. As Janine presented us with the resort information she offered us cold refreshing scented towels and welcome drink but the best part..... we were offered to sample Alila's own private skincare products, from moisturisers, insect repellant, and the most refreshing was the facial mist. It was the perfect touch when arriving in Bali's humid conditions. Janine then explained each villa comes with a private butler who attends to all your needs and you get to choose between 3 levels of service. We chose the standard service as I didn't want to be too fussed upon which still included your golf buggy service, 24 hour butler assistance, turn down service and afternoon snacks delivered to your villa. You could choose between fruit and nuts or cookies! Ahhh the cookie monster tried to rear its head (like who knocks back cookies??)  but the healthy Jodie opted for the fruit and nuts daily service. Next minute we were on the buggy winding through the beautiful gardens and grounds of the resort and we arrived at our one bedroom private luxury pool villa. Note: I was quietly impressed with the discreet staff service who took away our bags and even personalised them with a lovely leather bag tag as a welcome gift. Its the little things that get me excited! The set up of the resort gives you that feeling of complete exclusivity and privacy. The Favourite room: Villa 409 commands the highest points of the resort, so its the couples/honeymooners delight. With complete privacy and a 180 degree ocean view and the king of all villas. As the butlers set up our room with our bags & belongings when they closed the door, we both jumped up and down like excited little kids. I was so excited I even created my own little tour and video around the villa. It wasn't my best performance (Getaway and other travel shows will be lining up asking me to be their next travel presenter haha! ) This way you get my personal view on how incredibly stunning the villas are. See below for the videos 🙂 All the Bali villas have their own private pool and ocean view cabana. The one bedroom villas we stayed in are very spacious, 291 m2 and open planned design with modern furnishings. The contemporary interiors are enhanced with the touches of nature and traditional balinese accents with wooden floors, stone, rattan, bamboo and water features. The bathrooms were huge with twin basins, indoor and outdoor rain showers and your own private indoor bathtub, and jet shower (confusing to work but fun to experience 😉 The amenities have to be mentioned as there was so much on offer restocked daily, moisturisers, lip balms, insect repellant, body wash, there were even wide brimmed hats, wooden hand held fan, slippers, robes, beach bags, sarongs and the list goes on. The resort and rooms offer complimentary wifi access throughout the resort, complete with a docking station and iPod and a great sound system so you can play your music outside by the pool in your private cabana. And for those nocturnal noshers ( that was me after the Ulu Cliffhouse opening party) its good to know Alila  offer 24 hour room service if you get the midnight munchies. The villas were simply lavish, complete with anything you desired and you also have the option to have breakfast delivered and served in your room " in bed or outside in your cabana". I didn't want to leave my villa.. I felt like a little queen and I was just happy to chill and take in the experience.     DCIM102GOPROG0713315.JPG SWWQ6606 For the Foodies/Dining Experience The food and service here was exceptional. The quality is amazing and such fresh and delicious dishes. Every morning the breakfast service at the main restaurant was a beautiful setting overlooking the horizon pool. The food selection for breakfast was extensive offering fresh daily juices, green juices, specialised tea and coffee. I had a 5 course breakfast every morning and the menu options changed daily. My favourite was the eggs benedict with salmon. My lips loved it and my hips are suffering as the food was that good. For Lunch and Dinner there is the contemporary Western style Cire restaurant offering beautiful cuisine inspired by the natural surroundings: definitely try the king prawns, wasabi, spiked crab and grilled octopus. Across the pool you can try the more casual Warung restaurant offering authentic Indonesian dishes. For afternoon tea Alila Uluwatu offers complimentary mouth watering snacks from 3pm- 5pm. The Banana fritters with coconut were incredible. Yoga classes are offered daily every morning at 7:30am which is held in the iconic sunset cabana. It would have to be one of the best yoga classes I have experienced. Very professional, zen and the perfect setting and great way to start your day. The instructor was amazing! Very inspirational.   yoga Alila Villas Uluwatu You can even experience the new crazed " aerial yoga". Private lessons will set you back 925,000 ++ IDR per person. A very unique experience suspended in silk hammocks floating above the cliff edge is a must do. Or get the ultimate pamper treatment at Spa Alila - the spa facilities and treatments are divine. Or work out in the design of the art 24 hour gym. If you are feeling energetic and want to escape to your own private beach challenge yourself to the descent and then climb the 602 stairs leading to Alila's patch of beach exclusivity.

And finally Ladies: if you are looking for that picture perfect wedding venue. Look no further as Alila hosts many weddings and it is the most dreamy wedding setting I have ever seen. I did see a few weddings during my stay. The venue will definately leave you speechless.

This may sound like a bold statement but this would have to be one of the "best luxury resorts I have ever experienced". I did not want to leave. But all good things must come to an end and I will cherish my memories from my stay at Alila's luxurious Villas in Uluwatu.
